A unique chance to offer your solutions to important Taiwanese stakeholders and potential business partners!
In the first half of 2021, Taiwan experienced its severest drought in 56 years. This forced the government to enact water rationing measures. Right after the drought, Taiwan was hit by storms with torrential rains causing landslides and flooding throughout the island. As a result, bridges broke down, roads were blocked and the infrastructure was damaged in many areas. These extreme weather phenomena are becoming more common in Taiwan and creating serious threats for the economic development. Hence, the Taiwanese government allocated EUR 7.6 bln in 2017 to counter these effects: a call for solutions which brought along with many new business opportunities for Dutch companies!
Background
Enhancement of water resource management and flood preparedness has becoming one of the most important economic development policies in Taiwan. It’s goal is to effectively secure sufficient water supply from various water resources. These include, among others, watershed conservation for reservoirs and flood prevention with nature resilience adaptation. Starting from 2017, the Taiwanese government has allocated TWD250.8 billion (Euro 7.6 billion) for the 8-year ‘Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program’. All efforts to build a sustainable water environment in Taiwan.
In 2020, RVO and the Dutch Representative office in Taipei commissioned a market report to investigate the business opportunities in the Taiwanese water sector. The report identified concrete business opportunities for a NL-Taiwan cooperation on tackling water-related challenges, promising topics for the Dutch water sector and recommendation on suitable approaches to enter the Taiwanese market. The results of the study will be presented during the Business Dialogue. For more information on the report, please check the RVO-website.
The Business Dialogue
During the business dialogue, Taiwanese experts will tell you about market trends and developments in the Taiwanese water sector. We will zoom in on concrete and short term business opportunities such as the ongoing international tenders from the Taiwanese government on riverbank improvement, upcoming projects on desalination plants and calls for solutions on water leakage. In the second part of the event, you will have the unique opportunity to pitch your company’s expertise to important stakeholders and policy discussion makers in Taiwan!
