🌐International Forum 1 - Showcase Music Festivals: Platforms for Creating and Promoting Up-and-coming Music

Due to unforeseen circumstances, international guest Umair Jaffar has canceled his trip to Taiwan. The forum's moderator will be changed, with panelist Filip Košťálek taking on both roles. The forum content remains unchanged, and we warmly welcome all interested attendees to participate as scheduled.
Curators from the Czech Republic, Japan, and the US will share about their valuable experiences coordinating showcase music festivals. The discussion will be initiated by curator Umair Jaffar, who has an Asian background and a wealth of showcase experience. They will discuss in depth how to use these platforms to promote new music and how to create a virtuous cycle within the global commercial ecosystem for music. Based on their unique cultural perspectives coming from different countries, they will present a diversity of operational modes that have come about as a result of their varying cultural backdrops and investigate the influence cultural differences have on the presentation and reception of music.
With a focus on the curators’ professional wisdom and experience, they will also discuss how they identify and promote musicians with potential, connect with the global market, and use showcase music festivals to open the door to that market. This will provide musicians and agents with a clear understanding of how to effectively participate in and prepare for festivals, submit samples of their work, and stand out from the crowd on the global stage.
🌐International Forum 2 - Connecting with the Global Music Chain: Core Drivers of the Export of Music

Music industry experts from France, Hong Kong, and the Czech Republic will talk in detail about their experience and opinions on exporting music and market development in the context of international collaboration. Polish consultant Martyna van Nieuwland, rich with experience curating events in many nations and moderating forums, will direct the conversation toward the aspect of similarities and differences among different cultures and within the music ecosystem. They will discuss large music festivals and international art festivals and explore the main drivers behind the export of music by sharing specific examples.
The forum will further look at the latest trends and developments in the global music market while examining how to effectively establish oneself in the market. The panelists will share about their work promoting international music festivals, how they identify and promote musicians with potential, and their use of these platforms to open the door to the global market.
● Participation Guidelines
- Registration deadline: Oct. 4th (Fri).
On-site registration is available, but interpreter devices are limited in number.
- Interpretation Services:
1.Both international forums will provide on-site Mandarin-English interpretation, with free interpretation device rentals available.
2.Pre-registered participants will have priority for interpretation device rental, but quantities are limited, and not all attendees are guaranteed a device.
- Admission:
1.Admission to the international forums is free. Those who did not pre-register can sign up on-site, and participation will be confirmed by staff.
2.Attending the performances of the "2024 World Music Festival @ Taiwan" still requires a ticket for entry.
- Force Majeure:
In the case of unforeseen circumstances such as natural disasters, which prevent the event from proceeding as planned, further details on how the situation will be handled will be announced by the event organizers.
- Image Rights Declaration:
By registering, participants agree and authorize World Music Festival @ Taiwan to photograph, use, modify, edit, and publicly display their likeness (including photos and video footage, hereafter referred to as "likeness"), name, and voice during the event. Participants agree that the World Music Festival @ Taiwan holds the full copyright to the work containing their likeness, name, and voice. This may be used by the festival, its affiliated companies, assignees, and licensees across all forms of media and mediums. The festival reserves the right to publish or display these materials, wholly or partially, through various media outlets or print without further notification or participant consent, while maintaining respect for personal image.
- Additional Notes:
The organizer reserves the right to explain, add, modify, or cancel any items within these guidelines. Updates will be posted on the World Music Festival @ Taiwan Facebook page, Instagram, official website, or announced on-site.
