About the GLOBE Program
Founded in 2005, the Dado and Maria Banatao Center for Global Learning and Outreach from Berkeley Engineering (GLOBE) enhances international collaborations by helping College of Engineering departments engage with global partners. GLOBE has established visiting student and scholar programs with partner universities, where faculty relationships already exist and collaboration is mutually beneficial.
GLOBE's visiting scholar programs enable post-graduate scholars to conduct research with Berkeley Engineering's renowned faculty, often supported by government resources aimed at advancing skills or entrepreneurial capabilities. The visiting student programs allow cohorts from partner institutions to enroll in specific College of Engineering courses for up to one year. While these students do not earn a UC Berkeley degree, they receive an official transcript, and course credits are pre-approved by their home institutions to ensure transferability.
This structured approach ensures that international students and scholars gain valuable educational experiences tailored to enhance their academic and professional development. By fostering these international partnerships, GLOBE actively contributes to the global exchange of knowledge and skills, reinforcing the College of Engineering’s commitment to global education and outreach.
