Rare but not alone:  Children with genetic disorders

Summary: The shockwaves strike entire family units when their children go through genetic testing and diagnostic confirmation, this is especially true for Chinese families with tight relations and issues of “saving face”. This presentation will examine how resilience-based professionals work with parents and their children in a “rare but not alone” journey.

Legal Literacy and Aspirations for Law in the first half of China’s Twentieth Century

Summary: This talk introduces my ongoing project in which I examine the visions that citizens of China’s republic envisioned their legal system and the hopes and expectations they had for their legal system. My work is especially concerned with the perceptions and strategies developed by figures like housewives, children, and others who found need to explore the boundaries of the law.
