哥倫比亞論壇結合美國哥倫比亞大學與其校友的專業資源，以促進跨領域合作學習為宗旨，關注當今最迫切的全球議題。首屆論壇由成立75周年的懷特海東亞研究所與台灣哥倫比亞大學校友會共同主辦，邀請您一同探討台灣在全球發展與創新下的角色與潛力。
講者簡介：
Prof. Myron Cohen (孔邁隆)。主題：文化認同（ Cultural Identity）:
邀請您一同與孔邁隆教授探討台灣民族與文化認同的動態發展。孔教授在社會韌性與適應力的洞見夙負盛名，他將解析台灣獨特的歷史根源與當代影響，並展示台灣猶如東亞文化明燈的特殊地位。
Prof. Andrew Nathan (黎安友) 。主題：民主（ Democracy）：
與黎安友教授一起探索台灣卓越的民主化旅程。面對全球政治劇變與兩岸動態發展，黎教授將探討台灣民主的成就、挑戰與未來，並提供比較性分析以深化世人對此議題的理解。
Dr. Winston Hsu (徐宏民)。主題：科技與人工智慧革命（Technology & The AI Revolution）：
與徐宏民博士共同探討台灣在全球人工智慧場域的重要角色。從尖端人才匯聚看台灣蓬勃的人工智慧產業鏈，徐博士將討論台灣如何駕馭人工智慧發展的倫理與實務問題。來與徐博士一起了解這個產業的永續發展以及台灣對人工智慧未來前景的無限潛力。
座談：
由知名新聞主播張雅琴主持，邀請知名校友傅澤民（中研院政治學研究所助研究員）、何之行（中研院歐美所副研究員）、潘思亮（晶華國際酒店集團董事長）、蘇起（前國安會秘書長、陸委會主委）參與座談，一起來聽聽他們對前述三個主題的看法，以及他們對台灣未來在國際舞台上的見解。

The Columbia Forum is a pioneering event dedicated to addressing global challenges by leveraging the Columbia community’s unique strengths and innovative approaches. This year's theme, "A New Beginning in Taiwan" will explore how Taiwan can find opportunities to contribute meaningfully on an international level in three critical areas: Cultural Identity, Democracy, and the AI Revolution in Technology.
Cultural Identity: The evolution of Taiwan’s ethnic and cultural identity from the 1960s to the present has been marked by a dynamic interplay between systemic political changes, social movements, and economic breakthroughs. Prof. Myron Cohen (孔邁隆) will discuss the resilience and adaptability of Taiwanese society, which has developed identities that encompass a rich tapestry of influences, reflecting both its historical roots and contemporary realities. Prof. Cohen, who is retiring this July, will also reflect on the different stages of Taiwan's technological innovation that he has witnessed firsthand over the course of his career.
Democracy: Taiwan’s rapid democratization and the enduring nature of its democracy is a remarkable achievement. Andrew Nathan (黎安友) will discuss the significant strides that Taiwan has made in popular governance, as well as ongoing challenges and uncertainties that it must navigate in relation to cross-strait relations and the competing concepts of liberalism versus authoritarianism embodied by US-China competition. Prof. Nathan will introduce surveys conducted on Taiwanese political identity and policies, as well as compare trends in Taiwan to those in the US.
Technology: AI Revolution: This session explores AI's role in Taiwan and the world, including its social and economic benefits, the power that it commands, and the resources that it demands. Dr. Winston Hsu (徐宏民) will discuss Taiwan's strong supply chain, competitive edge, and talent pool, and how Taiwan can play a pivotal role in AI's innovation and transformative effects. He will address the challenge of sustainability posed by AI's high energy consumption and how Taiwan's energy solutions can contribute to a sustainable future for the rest of the world.
The talk is to be followed by a panel featuring notable Columbia alumni Ronan Fu (傅澤民), Chih-hsing Ho (何之行), Steven Pan (潘思亮), Su Chi (蘇起), and moderated by Catherine Chang (張雅琴), where they will discuss and respond to the keynote talks.
