We are interns from Citydomo who trust “Localization" is our faith. Jioufen, where has the beautiful scenery and traditional life style of Formosa that you must explore it. And that’s the reason why we conduct this event. and we want to bring you truly experience of Taiwan old town by DIY the activity, by feeling through heart and both of your hands, make you know more friends in this beautiful island. Below is a tunnel that makes you appoach to traditional Taiwan.

The event is combined with making taro balls and tea by yourself with teaching and explaining the process, at the end, taste and enjoy it with beautiful Jioufen scenery, we believe you can immerse yourself in Taiwanese culture through DIY.

10：30 - Arrive in Jioufen
11：00 - Taro Balls Experience (1.5 hours )
12：30 - Lunch time at your own expense (Try some local snacks that we recommend at Jioufen
with new friends)

14：30 - Explore Jioufen or other nearby point of interests that we recommend

Highlights: A 15 minutes lesson of tea etiquette and savoring tea will show you how to experience the wonderful culture of Taiwanese tea. You get to use a tea set by yourself and search for the peace in your heart through the fragrance of tea. The store even has lots of decorations from the old times and brings you back to the early society of Taiwan, have a taste of the Taiwanese original culture! ≡ We could provide small bus( probably fit on 15~20 ppl) if the participants reach to 15 people. The bus price will be NT 200/ per person.If you have demand for the bus, please email us at first. We are going to sum up the number.
III. History of Jiofen
Jioufen, it was said that there were “nine households” in total of the early immigrants in this village, and therefore the merchandise from other places were always separated into nine shares, which is in Chinese “Jioufen”. As time passes, it became the name of the village. Jioufen has had a great reputation due to the prosperity of mining. In the Japanese era, huge amounts of gold were transported to Japan and pushed the quantity of gold outputs to the summit. In the 30s, along with the rise of the gold price, the Asian “state of gold” became increasingly thriving and glorious. At the time, people from Shanghai could see lights shone from Jioufen and named it “Shiau (which in Chinese is “little”) Shanghai” or “Shiau Hongkong”.
Later on, since the mining business stopped, business became dull in Jioufen. However, the buildings and streets constructed according to the landforms surprisingly became the key to the next bloom of Jioufen. These old-fashioned buildings on the hills have a really special nostalgic atmosphere to them, which was also used in scenes of a Taiwanese movie, “A City of Sadness”. The unique old-fashioned buildings and amazing scenery of the hills of Jioufen gave the movie an additional splendor and gained attention locally and internationally.
