One Book, One Symposium:A Look at the Next Decade of Golf
Monday, December 7 at the CTCI Foundation International Convention Hall, National Taiwan University
Hosted by Kuo Hua Golf & Country Club. As water resources, soil health, pest and disease management, biodiversity, and sustainability certification become questions that every golf course must answer, Kuo Hua is carrying forward the "Green Golf Year One" commitment it announced this past April. Drawing on years of investment in sustainable course management and ecological conservation, it has distilled that experience into a book and a symposium, joining industry partners to turn sustainability from an ideal into concrete action and to build the golf courses of the next generation together.
The morning program will feature the official launch of Wild, Of Course (《野。心》), Delphine Tseng’s first large-scale creative project in Taiwan. Through science, literature, photography, and original illustrations, the book brings to life the remarkable biodiversity of Kuo Hua Golf & Country Club, from its waterways and forest edges to the wildlife that calls it home. Renowned calligrapher Ben-Hang Chang created the calligraphy for the book’s title, bringing together art, literature, and nature. Ecologists and environmental scholars will also join the event to discuss the future of biodiversity conservation and environmental stewardship on golf courses.
The afternoon Sustainable Golf Symposium will feature Andrew Wilson, Director of Agronomy at Bethpage State Park in New York, sharing his experience in sustainable golf course management. Andrew oversees five golf courses, including the renowned Bethpage Black, host of the 2025 Ryder Cup. He will discuss the challenges of managing world-class golf facilities while protecting wildlife and natural habitats, particularly during major championships such as the Ryder Cup and PGA Championship.
The symposium will also bring together international experts and professionals from Taiwan to explore GEO sustainability certification, soil health, integrated pest management (IPM), precision pesticide application, water conservation, and best management practices (BMPs) for sustainable golf course management.
Golf course owners, superintendents, industry associations, suppliers, and professionals interested in sustainability, ESG, and biodiversity are warmly invited to join the conversation and help shape the future of sustainable golf in Taiwan.
