《Untold Story
Born from a deeply personal archive of grief, survival, and memory, “Untold Story” is a tender mapping of the final farewells that shape a family. It also chants the shared human longings: love and peace.

About the Performance
《Untold Story
The story begins with the death of the mother—a tragedy led three siblings and their father to different places. When political turmoil forces the father into exile, the boundaries of their personal lives are once again radically redrawn. With grief and love intertwined, they navigate separation, reunion and uncertainty.
The father has spent years in exile in borderlands far from home. Forced to meet in secret at different borders, the family struggles to carry on, constantly hiding beneath the suffocating shadow of violence.
Amid the unpredictability of exile, they try to create small havens in everyday life: the elder brother cooks for his younger siblings, hoping to recover the remembered flavours of their mother’s cooking; they visit their father in secret, sharing stories and holding on to hope. Rather than examining politics, the work turns its gaze towards the inner lives of individuals, portraying the quiet yet immense void within those forced to endure loss and those left behind—their longing, their waiting and their silence.
Untold Story deftly weaves together dialogue and puppetry. Each puppet embodies profound love and memory, as presence and absence intertwine in the barren borderlands. The work takes audiences on a deeply moving journey through love, separation and the resilience of the human heart, which still dares to dream. However far people are forced to wander, love remains their shared pursuit, and peace the redemption they long for.

This production was made possible with the support of the following organizations. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mohamed Fita Helmi Bin Tahir of the Lize Puppet Art Colony for accepting our invitation to collaborate with Thai artist Wasu on a reinterpretation and further development of Untold Story, a work that has been evolving over the past three years.
The work originated from The Last Egg, a short puppetry piece created and presented by Wasu in 2023, when he was invited by the Puppetry Art Center of Taipei to develop a work during his three-month participation in the MCH Professional Exchange Programme in Taiwan. In November, the Lize Puppet Art Colony will also host Wasu for a residency in Yilan, where he will further develop and refine the work through puppet design, puppet-making, and production. Through its diverse approaches to collaboration with MCH, the Colony is helping facilitate this international co-production project.
We are grateful for the cross-organizational collaboration between the Puppetry Art Center of Taipei and MCH, which brings together the expertise and resources of a professional arts venue, an artist development platform, and the technical and practical experience of presenting and promoting artistic performances. This partnership establishes an alternative model of international co-production and fosters new forms of collaboration and partnership across borders. We deeply appreciate the patience, dedication, and ongoing commitment of all involved in nurturing the artistic development of both Taiwanese and international artists.

關於《什麼是你想留住的?》參與式活動|About the 《What would you like to hold on》
《What would you like to hold on
“What would you like to hold on” is a participatory activity curated by Panthea LEE for this project. When a performance tells a story, it may be about sadness, survival, or the loss and pain in the deeply buried memories. It also tells about the shared experience of mankind and the yearning: about love and peace. We may feel something, about the performance, or about ourselves.
After the performance, stay for a gentle moment to reflect, take a breath, and connect with others. Together, we’ll add words or images to a shared cloth, responding to what the performance brought up and what we want to hold onto. Join in as much or as little as you wish.

Begins
Living Arts International Taiwan Office, also known as Mekong Cultural Hub (MCH), has maintained a steady partnership with Taiwan's Ministry of Culture since 2018. Together, they have supported artists, cultural practitioners, and organisations in Taiwan and Southeast Asia in building networks, fostering multilateral and reciprocal cultural exchange, and developing international collaborations. Ahead to its tenth year, the collective efforts of funders, partners, and organisations in Taiwan and internationally have generated achievements and increased visibility, demonstrating the cultural impact created through their shared contributions. These outcomes reflect how sustained exchange and relationship-building between Taiwan and Southeast Asia have developed into diverse collaborations with lasting impact.
In 2026, Mekong Cultural Hub once again initiated an international artistic collaboration programme connecting Taiwan and Southeast Asia, bringing together artists from Taiwan and Thailand to collaborate on the development and presentation of a performing arts production. Thai theatre, mime, and puppetry artist Wasu Wanrayangkoon first presented his short piece, The Last Egg, at the Puppetry Art Center of Taipei's “2023 Taipei Puppet Slam” during his participation of MCH's professional Exchange program in Taiwan in 2023. After returning to Thailand, he continued to develop the art work. This year, he returned to Taiwan to collaborate with the Lize Puppet Art Colony on its further development and production.
The work's international performance journey began at the Puppetry Art Center of Taipei in 2023. In June 2026, an experimental work-in-progress presentation in Taipei received positive responses from Taiwanese audiences and guests from across Asia. As the work continues to evolve, it will return to Taiwan in November. With support from the Puppetry Art Center of Taipei, a developed and complete production, Untold Story, will be presented at the centre's Black Box Theatre on November 26 and 27. Admission is free, with tickets available by reservation.
At the invitation of the Safe Havens Meeting international forum, the production will also be performed in Siem Reap on December 3.
