2026 Rhythm Retreat Workshop
Freelancer’s Workshop
Both days at Ji Space, Xinwu, Taoyuan. Taught by Yi-Ning Huang (HONU LAB).
A shared working doc is handed out on site — every exercise is written there.

Day 1|Sept 14 Position × Inventory
Day 1 takes what you already have and turns it into one line people remember.
How the day run
- Quick round: your name, why freelancing, what you want to walk out with
- A real story: three podcast editors send quotes, and the one who gets hired is neither the cheapest nor the most senior
- Three kinds of skills — hard skills, soft skills, domain knowledge.
- Write: "I helped ___ go from ___ to ___ in ___."
Your takeaway
A skill and domain inventory and a profile you can paste into Upwork or LinkedIn the same day.
Day 2|Sept 15 Clients × Pitching
With a position in hand, the hard part begins: where the first client comes from, and how to get a yes.
How the day run
- Everyone reads their Day 1 position out loud
- Compare three channels — platforms, connections, personal brand — on speed, trust, and how long the relationship lasts
- Write one SMART goal that survives your worst week, not your best
- Learn the five sets of questions to ask before you quote anything, then take apart a real job post: they asked for a redesign; what they want is more people finishing the form
- The FAST pitch — Feel / Answer / Support / Take action. Write all four, read it to a partner, and they answer one question only: "Did the first paragraph make you feel seen?"
- Close with the five stages of a freelance career, and why skipping straight to the last one is a costly move
Your takeaways
Your discovery call questions, a finished FAST pitch, and a rescue kit of six email templates: three for landing your first projects with no portfolio, three for turning them into reviews. Homework is mapping your own career ladder.
