In stop-motion animation, materials are not merely a matter of visual style; they are an integral part of the cinematic language. Canada’s Clyde Henry Productions works with a wide range of materials, including fabric, paper, and everyday objects, using frame-by-frame animation and meticulous manipulation to give inanimate matter movement, rhythm, and emotion. This talk will explore how the choice of materials shapes character performance, spatial design, and narrative atmosphere, while tracing the creative process from initial concept to finished shot and revealing how material itself can become a vital element of storytelling and emotional expression.
