Subculture Music Party|DJ Talks & Live Sets
DJ Donuts

This August, the Center for Sound Art and Acoustics Research at the National Taiwan University of Arts presents an afternoon exploring DJ culture, subcultural music scenes and electronic sound through artist talks and live performances.
Featuring DJ Earth Warrior Lee Hai-Sheng and DJ Donuts, the event brings together two artists with distinct musical backgrounds and live performance experiences. They will share how mixing, sampling and sonic arrangement have contributed to the development of their individual musical languages.
The programme will also include an informal conversation with the artists about how their backgrounds, cultural environments and performance experiences have shaped their relationships with music and influenced their creative practices.
Both artists will present live sets, guiding the audience through a sonic experience in which underground electronic music, experimental sound and popular culture intersect.
DJ Earth Warrior Lee Hai-Sheng
Moving between DJ mixing, live sets and experimental electronics, Earth Warrior Lee Hai-Sheng approaches music as an exploration of sonic texture, rhythm and spatial perception.
Her sets combine the intricate pulse of Hypnotic Techno and Micro-Minimal with expansive space and raw industrial textures. Synthesizer materials and improvised live sampling are frequently incorporated into her mixes, giving cold electronic signals an organic pulse and analogue warmth.
She is also drawn to the urban isolation and late-night atmosphere of Deep and Lo-fi House. From raw drum-machine rhythms to microscopic fragments of digital FM sound, Lee Hai-Sheng continues to explore the shifting boundaries between electronic sound, human perception and the experience of time and space.
DJ Donuts
DJ Donuts has been active at LGBTQ+ nightclubs and major music festivals, and has performed at Taiwan Pride for eight consecutive years.
She works across a wide range of genres, moving effortlessly between underground sounds and mainstream hits, including House, Techno and K-Pop.
Having transitioned from playing bass in a rock band to working as a DJ, Donuts brings a strong rhythmic and musical foundation to her sets. Mashups are her forte, and familiar songs often take on an entirely new energy through her unexpected combinations and arrangements.
