我們在海上重新遇見 Meeting Again at Sea
人們理解世界的方式，往往受限於以陸地為中心的視覺地圖；然而在尋路（wayfinding）的導航實踐中，航海家置身於看似無處的海域，透過身體感官觀測風、浪與星辰，在變動的自然之中辨識方向，建立人與環境持續互動的具身知識。
奈諾亞．湯普森（Nainoa Thompson）將回顧傳奇航海獨木舟「霍庫利亞號」（Hōkūleʻa）跨越半世紀的航行軌跡與實踐，並分享「導師與傳承者」在文化保存和復振中的角色。台灣作為南島語族的地理原鄉，對湯普森而言，Hōkūleʻa 航抵台灣，不僅是一次航行的停靠，而是一場跨越七千年的重逢——「舟與海的家族」再次相遇。
Our understanding of the world is often confined by land-centric visual maps. However, in the navigational practice of wayfinding, voyagers place themselves in a seascape that appears to be "out of nowhere." By observing winds, waves, and stars through their physical senses, they identify direction within a shifting nature, establishing an embodied knowledge through continuous interaction with the environment.
Nainoa Thompson will speak about the first 50 years of voyaging canoe Hōkūleʻa and the role of teachers. With Taiwan being the genesis of the Austronesian people, Thompson will address the importance of Hōkūleʻa being in Taiwan to connect with the 7,000 year-old family of the canoe and ocean.

關於奈諾亞・湯普森 Nainoa Thompson
集探索者、環保行動者、PWO航海家、教育家、文化復振者與敘事者於一身。他是六百年來第一位實踐玻里尼西亞導航術的夏威夷原住民 ：在不仰賴現代儀器的情況下，駕駛傳統的雙體獨木舟 (double-hulled canoe) 進行遠洋航行；他於2023年6月起，領航一場名為「Moananuiākea」環繞太平洋的遠航計畫。奈諾亞發展出一套「非儀器導航系統（non-instrument navigation system）」，將傳統法則與現代科學知識進行有機融合，這套知識體系目前已廣泛傳授於夏威夷與太平洋各地的學校 。他致力於海洋探索、守護地球生態，並確保玻里尼西亞古老的海洋遺產與文化，在未來仍能生機盎然、傳續不絕 。
Explorer, environmentalist, Pwo navigator, educator, cultural revivalist, and storyteller. He is the first Native Hawaiian in 600 years to practice the ancient art of Polynesian navigation: long-distance open-ocean voyaging on a traditional double-hulled canoe without the aid of modern instruments. Launched in June 2023, Thompson currently leads the Moananuiākea Voyage, a circumnavigation of the Pacific. The non-instrument navigation system Nainoa developed – blending traditional principles and modern scientific knowledge – is taught in schools throughout Hawaiʻi and the Pacific. He has dedicated his life to exploring the ocean, maintaining the health of the planet, and ensuring that the ancient marine heritage and culture of Polynesia remain vibrant into the future.

Seats in the International Conference Hall are limited; synchronized Mandarin broadcasting will be provided in designated areas within the museum. Online registrants must complete check-in between 13:30 and 13:50, after which remaining seats will be released to on-site waitlisted attendees in order of registration. If the main hall reaches capacity, attendees will be directed to the synchronized broadcasting space. Please note that this event offers only on-site broadcasting and no online live stream; your understanding is appreciated.
▎關於南島三年展 About the Austronesian Triennial
南島三年展（Austronesian Triennial）由原住民族委員會與原住民族文化發展中心主辦，以屏東「台灣原住民族文化園區」為基地，透過藝術重新連結台灣與南島語族之間的歷史連結與當代關係。進入2027 南島三年展，「南島」不再僅是文化的指涉，而被視為一種行動與思考的方法。山冶計畫策展團隊嘗試將展覽由靜態展示轉向「關係生成」的動態過程，透過航海、編織、造舟等具身知識的共作與實踐，展覽不再只是作品的集合，而是一個跨越時間與地域，連結技術、文化與世界觀的生成場域，持續編織人與環境、海洋與山林之間的多重關係。
Organized by the Council of Indigenous Peoples and the Indigenous Peoples Cultural Development Center, the Austronesian Triennial is based at the Taiwan Indigenous Peoples Cultural Park in Pingtung. It aims to re-stitch historical connections and contemporary relationships between Taiwan and the broader Austronesian community through art.
Heading towards the 2027 Austronesian Triennial, "Austronesian" is no longer merely a cultural reference but is treated as a methodology of action and thought. The mt project curatorial team attempts to shift the exhibition from static display to a dynamic relational process. Through the co-creation and practice of embodied knowledge—such as voyaging, weaving, and canoe building—the exhibition transcends being a mere collection of works. It becomes a generative space that spans time and geography, connecting technology, culture, and worldviews, continuously weaving the multifaceted relationships between humanity and the environment, and the ocean and the mountains.
