國立臺北藝術大學新媒體藝術系 2026卓越獎《未竟之黑》特別邀請音像藝術家 @pepepepebrick 開設音像藝術工作坊。
本次工作坊將帶您學習使用使用 Touch Designer 與 VCV Rack 等軟體，將影像透過顏色分析與訊號提取工具，轉變為聲音的即時互動訊號，讓任何圖像、畫作、攝影作品都能擁有自己的音樂。
2026 Outstanding New Media Art Award Uncompleted Darkness is honored to invite artist @pepepepebrick to host an audio-visual workshop.
In this workshop, participants will learn to utilize creative software such as Touch Designer and VCV Rack to transform images into sound by analyzing and extracting values from images and turn them into realtime interative audios signals, the workshop explores how images—whether illustrations, paintings, or photographs—can generate their own unique musical expressions.

什麼是TouchDesigner?
TouchDesigner 是一款專為即時視覺創作而設計的強大工具，廣泛應用於互動裝置、投影映射（Projection Mapping）、舞台視覺與沉浸式體驗。它採用直覺的節點式（Node-based）操作方式，讓創作者可以像搭積木一樣，將影像、聲音、感測器資料與程式邏輯串接在一起。無論你是設計師、藝術家，還是對數位創作有興趣的新手，都能快速上手，創造出隨時間變化、能即時回應觀眾或環境的動態視覺作品。
What is TouchDesigner?
TouchDesigner is a powerful tool designed for real-time visual creation, widely used in interactive installations, projection mapping, stage visuals, and immersive experiences. It features an intuitive node-based interface, allowing creators to connect images, sound, sensor data, and programming logic as if assembling building blocks.
Whether you are a designer, artist, or a beginner interested in digital creation, TouchDesigner enables you to quickly get started and create dynamic visual works that evolve over time and respond in real time to audiences or environmental input.
什麼是 VCV Rack？
VCV Rack 是一套高度自由的模組化合成器軟體，完整重現傳統硬體合成器的操作邏輯，並將其帶入數位世界。你可以自由選擇與組合各種模組，例如振盪器（Oscillator）、濾波器（Filter）、包絡（Envelope）與序列器（Sequencer），透過「拉線」的方式建立聲音路徑，從零開始設計專屬的聲音。這不僅是一個製作音樂的工具，更是一個探索聲音結構與聲音設計的實驗場。無論你是電子音樂愛好者，或是對聲音創作感到好奇的新手，都能在其中發現無限可能。
What is VCV Rack?
VCV Rack is a highly flexible modular synthesizer software that faithfully recreates the logic of traditional hardware synthesizers in a digital environment. Users can freely select and combine a wide range of modules—such as oscillators, filters, envelopes, and sequencers—and build signal paths by “patching” cables, designing sounds from scratch.
It is not only a tool for making music, but also an experimental platform for exploring sound structure and sound design. Whether you are an electronic music enthusiast or a curious beginner, VCV Rack offers a space full of creative possibilities.

Download the free version of VCV Rack, register an account, and make sure the software runs properly (download guide) - 準備3-5張影像素材 (若無可使用TD內建範例圖檔)。影像主題與直橫比例不限，也可以是你的畫作或攝影作品。推薦多彩或高對比，或「有強烈特定色彩，但在畫面分布不均」，例如：
Prepare 3–5 image files. (If you don't have your own, you may use the built-in sample images in TouchDesigner) No restriction on subject matter or orientation (portrait/landscape). Your own drawings or photography are also welcome. Images with rich color variation or high contrast, or images with strong, distinct colors distributed unevenly across the composition are recommended, for example:
- 下載 VCV Rack 後，可在資源庫先下載OSC傳輸用的必備模組 (下載教學)：trowaSoft-cvOSCcv
After installing VCV Rack, download the required OSC module from the library: trowaSoft-cvOSCcv (download guide) - 會以內建模組優先示範，若時間充裕會再使用其他模組，可預先下載：Sickozell-sickoQuant、Audible Instruments Macro Oscillator 2、Valley Plateau
The workshop will primarily use built-in modules for demonstration. If time permits, additional modules may be introduced. You may download them in advance: SickoZell – sickoQuant, Audible Instruments – Macro Oscillator 2, Valley – Plateau

探索事物的邊界，與技術延展下觀看可能之未竟想像。

the darkness is not a void, but rather the primordial shimmer that precedes the genesis of a digital world. Centered around the theme of "Contemporary Darkness," this exhibition explores the limitless imagination of perception and boundaries as they are extended through technology.
