Event Introductions:
Dadaocheng Historic District is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Taipei, where many of Taiwan’s cultural traditions began.
In the early 1900s, this area was a lively trading port along the Tamsui River, where Taiwan’s famous oolong tea was exported around the world. During this prosperous “Tea-Gold Era,” life here was not only about business—people also enjoyed entertainment and the arts.
Among the most popular forms of entertainment was traditional glove puppetry. With its vivid characters, dramatic storytelling, and lively music, puppet shows became a favorite pastime for both locals and visiting merchants.
Today, we invite you to step into this unique cultural world and experience the charm of Taiwanese glove puppetry. Discover how these small puppets bring big stories to life—through skillful hand movements, expressive voices, and rich imagination.
Join us for a journey into the past, and enjoy the magic of this beloved traditional art in the heart of Dadaocheng.
