伊利亞蘇萊曼，一承他冷調幽默與低限度對白的風格，於本片中輔以超現實的段落，點出以巴對峙情勢下無望而荒誕的人民日常，並在反覆出現的類同空間中，勾勒出破碎人際關係與警民權力落差：一面轉化無力感為近乎戲謔的奇觀場面，訴諸著政治壓抑下的反抗量能，一面又透過詩意意象——那繪著阿拉法特圖像的氣球飄向空中，隱約召喚出對自由的渴望與想像。
Santa Claus races desperately to escape a gang of knife-wielding youths. A man meticulously checks his mail every morning, only to suffer a sudden illness. An Arab female “ninja” soars and vanishes across the scene…
Elia Suleiman, continuing his trademark deadpan humor and minimal dialogue, incorporates surreal sequences in this film to highlight the hopeless yet absurd daily life under the Israeli-Palestinian confrontation. In the recurring, almost identical spaces, he sketches fractured human relationships and the power imbalance between civilians and authorities: on one hand, he transforms a sense of powerlessness into near-comical spectacular scenes, channeling the energy of resistance under political oppression; on the other, through poetic imagery—the balloon bearing Yasser Arafat’s portrait floating into the sky—he subtly evokes a longing and imagination for freedom.
▌導演介紹 About the Director
伊利亞蘇萊曼，擅長以喜劇凸顯出人物與環境之間的疏離與荒誕感，是巴勒斯坦的代表電影人，並以冷調幽默與幾近默劇的表現手法，在國際影壇建立獨特地位。代表作品有《失蹤紀年》、《妙想天開》與《韶光在此停駐》此巴勒斯坦三部曲，2019年的新作《導演先生的完美假期》也獲坎城影展特別提及的殊榮。
Elia Suleiman is a representative Palestinian filmmaker known for using comedy to highlight the sense of alienation and absurdity between individuals and their surroundings. With his deadpan humor, he has established a distinctive voice in international cinema. His major works include Chronicle of a Disappearance, Divine Intervention, and The Time That Remains, often regarded as a Palestinian trilogy. His 2019 film It Must Be Heaven also received a Special Mention at the Cannes Film Festival.
