在火柴工廠工作的艾莉絲沉默寡言，日復一日地穿梭於單調的勞動與壓抑的家庭生活間，生活宛如死水，情感無從安放。某日，她試圖透過酒吧短暫逃離日常，並經歷了一次短暫邂逅，春天的陽光灑落心頭。然而命運的殘酷並未因此離她而去，短暫的親近很快就被冷漠取代，艾莉絲再次被推回原本的位置，懷孕、車禍、流產接踵而至。
經歷一連串打擊之後，她逐漸被逼至某種無法回頭的邊緣，電視裡反覆播送的革命影像，也似乎預示著她內在的轉變……
Iris, a quiet young woman working in a match factory, moves day after day between monotonous labor and an oppressive home life, her existence as stagnant as still water, with no outlet for her emotions. One day, she attempts to briefly escape her routine through a night at a bar, where she experiences a fleeting encounter—like a touch of spring sunlight. Yet the cruelty of her circumstances does not relent. The brief intimacy is soon replaced by indifference, and she is pushed back to where she began, as pregnancy, an accident, and a miscarriage follow in quick succession.
After enduring this series of blows, she is gradually driven to a point of no return, while the revolutionary images repeatedly shown on television seem to foreshadow her inner transformation.

阿基・郭利斯馬基，是芬蘭最具國際影響力的電影導演之一，以極簡風格、冷冽幽默與對社會邊緣人物的關懷聞名。他的作品常聚焦於小人物在冷酷現實中的生存狀態，並以節制的鏡頭語言，承載深沉而內斂的情感。其創作長年獲得國際影展肯定，為當代歐洲作者電影的重要人物之一。
代表作《沒有過去的男人》曾獲第55屆坎城影展評審團大獎。
Aki Kaurismäki is one of Finland’s most internationally influential filmmakers, renowned for his minimalist style, deadpan humor, and compassionate portrayal of society’s marginal figures. His works often focus on the lives of ordinary people navigating harsh realities, conveyed through a restrained cinematic language that carries profound and understated emotions. His films have received longstanding recognition at major international film festivals, establishing him as a key figure in contemporary European auteur cinema.
His acclaimed film The Man Without a Past was awarded the Grand Prix at the 55th Cannes Film Festival.
