The film opens with the discovery of a young woman's body, frozen to death in a ditch. The camera then turns to those who encountered her during the final weeks of her life. Through interviews and recollections of these witnesses, the audience pieces together the aimless journey of a wandering girl named Mona through the countryside of southern France. She rejects social norms, refuses to work, and even spurns the kindness of others, ultimately heading toward a lonely destruction.
The French title, Sans toit ni loi, literally translates to "Without Roof nor Law," accurately capturing Mona’s state of existence as someone who has completely detached herself from the social contract. Unlike male-centered road movies that often carry a romantic or pioneering tone, Varda presents a harsh, realistic wandering perspective deeply rooted in female existentialism. The film's tone is cold and stark, leading the audience to reflect on the "cost of freedom".

安妮華達，法國新浪潮左岸派代表，有新浪潮祖母之稱。攝影師背景起家，其電影作品風格融合了紀錄片的真實與實驗性，同時展現強烈的女性主義視角，是電影史上最具影響力的女性導演之一。
著名代表作包括《五點到七點的克萊歐》與《無法無家》。
Agnès Varda, a representative of the Left Bank school of the French New Wave, is known as the "Grandmother of the French New Wave". Starting her career as a photographer, her cinematic style blends documentary realism with experimentation while showcasing a strong feminist perspective. She is one of the most influential female directors in film history.
Her most famous masterpieces include Cléo from 5 to 7 and Vagabond.
