Event Introductions:
Dadaocheng Historical District is one of Taipei's oldest neighborhoods where many treasured arts & cultures originated. In the early 1900's, the world-renowned Taiwanese Oolong tea was exported from this very trading port of the North. Subsequently, the legendary tea-gold prosperity along the Tam Sui River was born. During this golden era, while tea merchants busy holding lavish parties to entertain important clients & guests, traditional theatrical arts were also flourished and became even more popular. Thus the nickname "theatrical Grotto" started.
This year, we'll follow the footsteps of Dadaocheng tea merchants and rediscover the connections between the tea-gold legend and the local theatrical theme. Among these unique theatrical arts, there're the southern pipe, glove puppets and the Taiwanese opera, just to name a few. Join us on this intriguing adventure of rich culture & history of Formosa. The vivid & exciting Dadaocheng Historic District awaits you to dive in and explore.
