2025 Theme: Buddhism, Bioengineering and Biological Science (BBB)
Potential panels:
【Panel 1】: AI, Consciousness, and Biotechnology
This panel builds off of the discussions from BSF 2024, Buddhism, Consciousness, and AI, to think about AI developments and their implications in conversation with Buddhism specifically in the context of biotechnology.
【Panel 2】: Synthetic Embryos, Conception and Dependent Origination
This panel aims to discuss Buddhist understandings of beginning of life and use Buddhist-based ethics to think about the creation of synthetic embryos in labs as well as IVF.
【Panel 3】: Bioengineering, Genes and Karma
This panel aims to think about the implication of other recent developments in bioengineering, such as genetic modification (of both animals and humans), gene therapy, and stem cell modification, for Buddhist conceptions of karma and rebirth and vice versa.
【Panel 4】: Motherhood, Abortion, and Ethics
This panel aims to consider the nexus of bioethics and Buddhism from a gendered perspective, thinking about the implications of abortion and surrogacy on motherhood and women, both in and out of Buddhist communities.
【Panel 5】: Future Challenges for Buddhism and Bioethics
This panel concludes the conference by considering the ways the issues at the nexus of Buddhism and bioengineering have real life implications and applications for Buddhist practice. In addition, it takes a forward-looking perspective to consider this topic in light of future developments in the field.

第六屆木魚論壇「佛學科學與未來」
2025年主題：”佛學、基因工程與生命科學”
議題內容：
【第一場】：A I、意識與生物科技
本小組討論將在2024年BSF（佛教、意識與人工智能）會議的基礎上，探討人工智能發展的新動向及其影響，尤其是在生物技術領域，與佛教思想的對話中展開討論。
【第二場】：合成胚胎、受孕與十二因緣
本小組討論旨在探討佛教對生命起源的理解，並運用基於佛教的倫理學思考實驗室中合成胚胎的創造以及試管嬰兒（IVF）技術的發展與應用。
【第三場】：生物工程、基因與業力
本小組討論旨在探討生物工程領域的其他最新發展（如動物與人類的基因改造、基因治療以及幹細胞改造）對佛教業力與輪回觀念的影響，以及佛教思想如何反過來對這些技術的發展提供倫理啓示。
【第四場】：母職、墮胎與倫理
本小組討論從性別視角出發，探討生物倫理學與佛教思想的交匯點，思考墮胎與代孕對母性及女性的影響，包括佛教社區內外的相關議題。
【第五場】：未來生物科學對佛學的挑戰
本小組討論為大會總結，探討佛教與生物工程交匯處的議題如何對現實生活中的佛教實踐產生影響和應用。同時，以前瞻性的視角審視這一主題，思考未來該領域的發展可能帶來的新挑戰和機遇。
