第一日
課程一:Advanced soft tissue surgeries in rabbits
Recent improvement in medical knowledge in rabbits, including diagnostic techniques, anesthseia and pain management led to description of emerging diseases. Some of these diseases require surgical treatment such as liver lobe torsion, appendicitis, thymomas. This presentation will highlight the indication, the surgical techniques, the follow up, and the complications of these procedures with practical tricks in order to successfully manage sick rabbits.
課程二:Advanced pain management in small mammals
The medical literature in not always easy to follow in small mammals’ medicine which is a
recent specialty with still a lot to be described. These past years, exotics veterinarians have
been adapting data from cats and dogs medicine to small mammals, using new drugs and new techniques in small mammals. Continuing rate infusion of opioids, ketamine, lidocaine is now often use to treat sever pain. Local anesthesia and loco regional anesthesia are more and more use in surgeries and lead to a better recovery of our patients. During this presentation, an overview of the recent small mammals' analgesic literature will be presented with highlights on the most promising techniques and drugs.

課程三:Pain management in birds and reptiles
Do birds and reptile experience pain? Behind this controversial question, hide the fact that for long years most of the people thought that these species were too archaic to feel pain. Nowadays, many scientific articles proved that these taxa could experience pain. The anatomy and the physiology of birds and reptile are very different than mammals. The repartition of opioids receptors is different, and their metabolism is different. If there are still a lot of knowledge missing in these species, more and more data are available concerning pain assessment, pharmacology and pain management in avian and reptiles which will be presented in this conference.
課程四:small mammals internal medicine update
Exotics Medicine is a relatively new discipline. Therefor there is still a lot to understand and to be described. More and more teams are sharing their knowledge and success through conferences, and publications. With all these new data not always easily available, new results and new guidelines it could be a little bit confusing to know what to do to treat patients. During this presentation, we will go through the newest medical updates and highlight some particular topics like guinea pigs gastric dilatation and volvulus, hyperthyroidism rabbit head tilt, and respiratory diseases, blood transfusion in ferrets and rats’ sterilization.
