We have invited four experienced foreign professionals who have all been in Taiwan for more than 10 years to share their experiences with living, working, and thriving in this beautiful country we call home.

About Revital Shpangental
Revital was born and raised in Israel and spent most of her childhood in Kibbutz Mizra in the Northern part of Israel. She moved to Asia in 1999 and has since worked and lived in Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. She has chosen Taiwan to be the base for her business and family.

Revital founded her own company, Anemone Ventures Ltd., in 2009 with the mission to bring cutting-edge technologies and innovation into Taiwan to increase the local corporations’ competitiveness and to upgrade their position in the technology value chain.

She is a frequent speaker and a co-lecturer in business classes in Taiwan universities, including National Taiwan University, National Chengchi University, Fu Jen Catholic University, and more. Her topics mainly address entrepreneurship, women in leadership, joining the workforce, and cross-cultural business practices.

Revital aspires to serve as a role model for women who seek to balance career, family, and their personal passions. She is highly involved in the local community and in the international business community in Taiwan.


About Leo Seewald
Leo Seewald has a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Business Degree from Simon Fraser University. He first came to Asia in 2000 to practice law with the Canadian firm Goodmans in Hong Kong, before moving to Taiwan in 2009 as Chairman of Manulife’s asset management company.

In 2016, Leo joined Blackrock as their Country Head and Chairman, working with the regulator and industry associations to help modernize and improve Taiwan’s financial regulatory environment. He was recognized for his contributions by being granted Taiwanese citizenship in 2020.

Leo served as AmCham’s Chairman and President from 2019 to 2021, and now enjoys time off on his fishing boat campaigning for better use of the many harbors around Taiwan.


About Shannon Watson
Shannon Watson graduated from the University of Ottawa with a degree in Political Science and worked at Coca-Cola Bottling for 4 years. She arrived in Taichung in 2001, expecting to stay for around 9 months before heading back to Canada for graduate studies. Twenty years later she is still in Taiwan, having chosen instead to complete an IMBA at National Chengchi University and later pursuing a career in the financial industry.

She spent her earlier years in Taiwan teaching private kindergarten. She then transitioned back into corporate life, joining a domestic securities firm, Yuanta, in the equity research department. She has worked for QIC for over 9 years, where she advises publicly-listed companies in Taiwan on issues related to corporate governance, human capital, and the environment.


About David Yang
David was born in Taiwan and left at the early age of 3. He returned to Taiwan at 25, after graduating from the University of Michigan with a BA in Asian Studies and a JD from Cornell Law School.

He has had a varied career working at CTCB and leading law firms Tsar & Tsai and Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue. Yang also founded 2 companies before turning 30. As one of the founders of the CID Group at 31, he has lived and invested in companies in Taipei, Shanghai, and the United States. He has success exits in Taiwan and the US, and he serves on publicly listed boards in Taiwan and the United States.
