Session 1: Case study: Fund raising for a medical innovation startup
In this Session, Mr. Liao will share their biggest problems and challenges in his business of medical technology. And Dr. Ho will explain the reasons of why Mr. Liao faced these difficulties and challenges, in addition, he will give the best advice from a global perspective and his rich financial knowledge as an experienced investor in global market.

何子明(Stephen Ho)/前星展亞洲融資首席執行官
Stephen joined as a managing director DBS’ Investment Banking Group in Singapore in June 2001. Prior to joining DBS, Stephen was the Head of Global Telecom, Media & Technology Group in Asia at JP Morgan Chase since 1998. He started his career with Chase in 1989 as a M&A generalist in New York before specialising in media and telecom sectors in New York and subsequently in Asia.
Since 1994, he has led over US$15 billion of bank or bond financing for SK Telecom, LG Telecom, Hanaro (Korea), MGTI and Indosat (Indonesia), TBC (Taiwan), H3G (Italy), Singtel, SingPost, Yellow Pages and SPH (Singapore), PCCW, CTI, Distacom, Wharf Cable and Cite, the publishing unit of Tom.com (Hong Kong), China Mobile (China), Celcom, Maxis and Astro (Malaysia), PLDT, Bayantel and Globe Telecom (Philippines), AIS, TAC and ShinSat (Thailand), Bharti and Reliance Infocomm (India), C&W IDC (Japan), QTel (Qatar), MGTI, Excelcomindo and Equinix (Asia Pacific). On the M&A side, Stephen has advised Bell Canada, Frontline Technologies (Singapore), CVC, JP Morgan Partners, Super TV (Taiwan), Home Cable (Philippines), Digi (Malaysia), POSCO (Korea) and Asia Pacific On Line (Taiwan). Stephen also advised TRI (Malaysia) in the restructuring of its US$534 million Euro Convertible Bond in 2000. Since 2003, he has completed multiple IPOs in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand including the HK$ 42 billion IPO of Hutchsion Port Holdings Trust, HK$9.3 billion IPO of HKT Trust, HK$1.3 billion IPO of Hongguo International Holdings Limited, S$788 million IPO of SingPost, US$534 million IPO of Astro and US$28 million IPO of CS LoxInfo.
In addition to his global coverage responsibility for the TMT Sector from 2001 to mid 2011, he was also Head of DBS Middle East in 2009 and Head of DBS Malaysia in 2010, before he became the CEO of DBS Asia Capital.
廖威宣(Liao Wei-Hsuan)/康統醫學科技執行長
Liao Wei-Hsuan received his MD degree from Department of Medicine in Chang Gung University, MS MIT Sloan MBA respectively. Before started his own company, Wei has diverse and professional work experiences in different fields, including former Chang Gung Hospital Attending Physician, former Shuanghe Hospital Attending Physician, Japan National Cancer Center Research Institute, former PathAI Consultant, former MedicusTek Vice General Manager.
Now, he is CEO of KenKone Medical Co.LTD., a company focuses on medical data and AI applications, optimizes the efficiency of medical processes.Their mission is to use technology to reduce the burden on the medical staffs, hence, they will have more time to accompany and take care their patients.
張朝騏(Chaochi Chang)/Zuvio 學悅科技執行長
Chaochi Chang received his BS degree from NTU CSIE department, MS in CS and MS in Media Arts and Sciences (MAS) from SUNY Stony Brook and MIT respectively. Before started his own company, Chaochi has worked for Groundhog Technologies Inc. on mobile network optimization solution, Trend Micro Inc. on computer security solution, and France Telecom Orange Lab on mobile interface/experience research.
After dating and eCommerce startups, Chaochi is the CEO of Zuvio - an edtech startup offering interactive response system which upgrade the experience of teaching and learning by bringing in fun and effective interactions into the classroom.
Who have been on both sides as entrepreneurs and investors, he has raised the seed/angel round for his own companies and involved in Zuvio’s A round from investor side. He is now raising B round for Zuvio as an entrepreneur with his previous experience from both sides.
