Hello Travelers, Locals, and Friends:
In the last decade that I’ve spent in
Taipei, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and create meaningful connections with
travelers, exchange students, and ethnically non-Taiwanese residents. I found
that my new friends had a lot of enthusiasm for trying Taiwanese dishes, but
couldn’t always eat the things they wanted to for a multitude of reasons: not
knowing much about Taiwanese food and so not knowing what dishes they would
like, language barriers in restaurants and stalls with no English language
menus, dietary restrictions and allergies, portion sizing for many restaurants
that would prohibit a solo traveler from trying many dishes, and so on and so
forth.
Taipei is a city centered around
food—ranging from freshly cooked street snacks to labor intensive braises and
stews, in a multitude of textures, smells, and tastes. Every day, the deep
fried glow of the night market fades into the freshly baked hustle of the
morning market. Fresh fruit and drinks abound on every street corner and city
block—in carts, in the back of trucks, in a kiosk in a wall. I believe that to
truly experience Taiwan and Taiwanese culture—one must EAT.
It is with
much joy and excitement to announce that All
