Nanguan x Experimental Music x Beiguan

大音希聲 - 為一系列活動,由天語樂軒 / 玩劇島小劇場和聽說Ting Shuo Hear Say 合辦。從傳統音樂中的南、北管為啟發,漫遊其靈感至即興與實驗音樂中的創作,並就兩者的聆聽經驗與感知來串連。

Dai Im Hi Shing is a series of events co-hosted by Thian-gi Lok-ian / Little Play and Ting Shuo Hear Say. Approaching traditional Nanguan and Beiguan music, we listen from the perspective of improvised and experimental music makers. Connections are found in the the experience of the listener, joining the different musical worlds.

 ◉南管絃友 Lam-koan ensemble  ◉
一群基於分享傳統南管的絃友,來自不同領域之同好,藉由用‘心’演奏出的樂曲能沁入每位聆聽者的心靈,感受南管古樂的魅力。

A group of musicians from all walks of life that share a passion for lam-koan (nanguan music). They enjoy making music together and are happy to share it with those interested. They aspire to spread the magic of traditional lam-koan by exchanging heart to heart with the listeners.

 ◉吳欣霏 Xin-Fei Wu ◉

台灣傳統聲樂家和說故事家,源自漢朝河洛雅言和南管戲曲的傳統,致力研究在現代社會瀕臨消失的傳統說故事與詩的技巧。1992年起,師從台灣、廈門、泉州名家學習南管及梨園戲。1993-98年為「江之翠實驗劇場」創團團長,發想、主演人。2004年在漢學臨風堂雅言聲韻名家謝魁源邀約下開始接觸河洛雅言。2009年獲選為洛克斐勒基金會(Rockfeller Foundation)之亞洲文化協會ACC(Asian Cultural Council Taipei)台灣受獎人,赴日與亞洲傳統雅樂進行深度交流。近來鑽研於重新演繹古代文字與詩,期望可整合並創造出新的音樂與視覺作品。

Xin-Fei Wu is a Taiwanese singer and storyteller based in the practice of Han Dynasty oral/ singing expressions and Nanguan music and theater traditions. She has devoted much of her life to the study of traditional storytelling techniques and poetry that are on the verge of extinction in our modern society. Since 1992 she studied Nanguan and Liyuan opera from great teachers in Taiwan, Xiamen and Quanzhou. She was the founder, leader, creator and lead performer in Gang-a Tsui Theater from 1993 to 1998. In 2009, Xin-Fei Wu received a grant from the Asian Cultural Council [ACC], a Rockefeller affiliated foundation, and she headed to Japan in 2010 to embark on an artistic exchange with school and temple singers there who are also preserving the oral and poetic traditions. Currently, she is working on reinterpreting ancient vocabulary and poetic languages for integration into creative, new musical and visual works. She started working with Han Dynasty language from the invitation of Hsieh Kui-Yuan from Han Studies Lin Feng House in 2004. 


 ◉黃貞婷 Chen-Ting Huang ◉

2000年師承郎毓彬先生,就讀台北藝術大學傳統音樂系古琴組期間,師事王海燕女士。2009年北藝大音樂學研究所畢業。此後積極參與演出,邀演遍及兩岸三地,尤擅長即興演出。2014年為不丹仁波切佛曲錄音。同年與滅劇場合作,結合舞蹈、人聲、古琴,即興演出「了了」。2017年於國家音樂廳「琴韻春生」中演出。2016年起擔任台灣琴會副會長。

Chen-Ting studied with Lang Yibin since 2000, and with Wang Haiyan during her bachelor years in the Taipei National University of the Arts in traditional music department majoring in Guqin. She graduated in 2009 with a master in musicology from the same university. Since then she has been very active in performing, had concert invitations from Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong. She is particularly well versed in improvisation. In 2014, she participated in the recording of Rinpoche Buddhist songs for Bhutan. In the same year she was involved in a collaboration with Huchia Dance Theater in the work Realize, where dance, vocal and guqin improvised together. In 2017 she performed in the National Concert Hall with Taigu Guqin Studio. Since 2016, she is the vice director of the Taiwan Guqin Society.

12 dog cycle 是由台灣的張惠笙和澳洲的 Nigel Brown 一同創作的表演合作。在他們的表演中,他們以聲音來探討我們對於生活四周空間與環境的體驗。惠笙用她的非傳統人聲發聲來製造與觀眾間的親暱互動,也以發聲方向來凸顯空間中的回音原音特質。Nigel 用以一改造手風琴來製造特殊的延續聲音樂器。兩人目前於台南經營實驗音樂空間「聽說 Studio」,以推廣實驗音樂教育與表演合作等活動。

12 dog cycle is a sound art collaboration that has been developed over the past decade by Alice Hui-Sheng Chang and Nigel Brown. In their performance practice they use sound to explore our experience of the space and environment around us. Alice uses her voice in unconventional ways to create an intimate relationship with an audience and draw attention to the acoustic properties of a space. Nigel has deconstructed a piano accordion to create a unique drone instrument. They also run 'Ting Shuo Hear Say' in Tainan, a space dedicated to experimental music promotion through education and collaborative performances.

 ◉曾伯豪 Po-Hao Tseng ◉

1991年生於高雄岡山,成長於台南。
曾伯豪從小學開始學習中國音樂,歷經高中時的西洋搖滾樂衝擊,再到恩師帶領學習台灣唸歌,2018年開始在和鳴南樂社學習南管,也自製奇怪造型的樂器。2014年創立鬼講堂,與表演者吳宗恩、戴開成共同創作,以焦吧哖事件為故事骨幹,改編並完成多次演出。此外2018年於玩劇島小劇場與戴向諶合作,完成第一次個人音樂演出,此外也曾與日本大提琴家坂本弘道、電子音樂家李慈湄、自由即興樂團I am not yours (千野秀一、林惠君、Marie)、Lan Cao+Gregor Siedl、李世揚等音樂家合作過即興演出。平常也參與劇場聲音相關的工作。近來在音樂間流浪以及嘗試理解何謂表演中的「在當場」,除鬼講堂計畫試圖理解抗日事件中的多重敘事問題及殖民處境外,音樂作品則多與社會議題及個人情感相關。

Born in Gangshan Kaoshiung and growing up in Tainan, Po Hao Tseng started studying Chinese classical music from his elementary years. In Highschool became intrigued in western rock music and began to play in rock bands. This was followed by formal training in singing Taiwanese folk songs. As of currently he is studying Nanguan music at the Ming Nan community group. In 2018 he collaborated with Immanuel Dannenbring for his first formal solo music performance and has worked with Hiromichi Sakamoto and Ci-Mei Li as a live soundtrack for the 差事劇團 Assignment Theatre group. In addition, he has performed in several free improv sessions with Suichi Chino, Hui-Chun Lin、Marie Takahashi and will Cao+Gregor Siedl and Shih-Yang lee.

◉戴向諶 Immanuel Danennbring  ◉

專注於藝術與實驗音樂領域,以Acoustic與電子為主的樂器演奏者與作曲家。在表演上,他通常使用電子器材和打擊類物件進行創作,除了有固定曲目與結構的演出外也參與各項即興演出。並在2012年以其個人 8 channel 聲響作品《Distant》拿下 Lilburn Young Composers Competition中的亞軍。2015年曾與台灣自由即興樂手劉芳一同赴沖繩參與演出。2016與天語樂軒參加大稻埕國際藝術節 TTTIFA。2017, 2018年受邀參與台北失聲祭,也在過程中與PA66合作自由即興演出。2017年底曾和音樂家李世揚, 林偉中 & 內橋和久 在台北雷克雅維克實驗室演出,目前正在玩劇島小劇場 Little Play 管理藝術教育與表演活動。

As a performer he primarily works with electronics and percussion in rehearsed and improvised settings. In 2015 he toured Okinawa alongside Taiwanese free improv artist Fang-yi Liu. Performed with art/music collective 天語樂軒 Thian-gi Lok-ian at the Tua-Tiu-Tiann International Festival of Arts 2016; and 2017, 2018 at Lacking Sound Festival as solo artist and with free improv ensemble PA66 respectively. In 2017, Immanuel improvised with Shih-Yang Lee, Weichung Lin and Kazuhisa Uchihashi at 雷克雅維克實驗室, and with Will Guthrie at Little Play. As of 2018 Immanuel performed at the 今秋藝術節 Lukang Arts Festival with local artist Po Hao Zheng, staged in the Lukang Longshan Temple. He is currently the program organiser at art/theater/performance venue Little Play in Taichung, Taiwan. 

◉天語樂軒 Thian-gi Lok-ian ◉


2014年春成立於台灣台北的自由即興音樂社團,是仿效在民間廟會及地方喜喪祭儀場景中,附著於特定地域,根據共同興趣聚合而成、一般稱為「軒社」的音樂組織形態所組成;因此沒有固定形態及團員,並以「受邀出陣」作為主要活動方式,由該陣參加者自行嘗試不同樂器、編制、實驗,沒有風格限制且來者不拒 - 作「樂」為樂便是「天語樂軒」最大的目的。

Formed in Spring 2014; the Taiwan based experimental music/art collective 天語樂軒 Thian-gi Lok-ian, focusing on free improvisation and is also heavily influenced by the concept of 軒社 (xuan-she). 軒社 ensembles often take a more communal approach to music making. Performances are often themed to encourage participants to experiment with combinations of instrumentation and different approaches to making music. The ensemble strives to be free from genre boundaries and treats music purely as “music”.

◉李俊陽 Jiun-Yang Li ◉

1967年生於台東。父親是電影看板畫師,本身精於廟宇彩繪、電影看板、書法、布袋戲偶偶頭製作、複合媒材藝術裝置,也擅長自製樂器跟即興音樂等。雖然以傳統元素創作,卻以敏銳思維反對既有體制,強調性格與心態造就風格,技法只是種形式,追求心靈真正自由的創作。

Jiun-Yang was born in Taitung in 1967. His father was a painter of movie posters. Jiun-Yang has been engaged in colored drawing of temples, painting of movie posters, calligraphy, making heads of Taiwanese glove puppets, and mix media installations, also good at homemade instruments and impromptu music. Traditional elements widely used in his works have not limited his creations. Being a boundary-pushing artist, he has been challenging existing systems with perceptive observation. For him, personality and attitude define the style, technique is just a form. What is more important is to create while discovering the freedom of mind.
