Have you been impressed by a set of swimming pool pictures? The rigid models and quiet atmosphere will bring you to a different world.
Have you seen pictures of the singer, Hebe Tien’s “Day by Day” album? Hebe poses like a doll in front of cozy and candy-color backgrounds outside of the towering skyscraper, Taipei 101.
All these photos come from a Slovak photographer, Maria Svarbova, born in 1988. She is honored with many international awards, Hasselblad Master 2018, multiple winnings in IPA (International Photograph Awards) including the first place in 2016; she has been covered by many fashion and style magazines such as the “Vogue” and the “Harper’s Bazaar;” and she is recognized by Forbes in the “30 under 30.”
Maria Svarbova is superb in composing
minimalist images with golden ratios and symmetry. She always emphasizes the
relationship between models and spaces through which many simplistic
compositions are made. Her experiments with colors never fail to fascinate
viewers.
Coming to Taipei in October 2018, Art Angle Corporation proudly presents the “Maria Svarbova Asia Premiere,” Maria’s biggest solo exhibition in her young and rising career. There will be over a hundred artworks to be exhibited including not only the world-renowned “Swimming Pool” series but also concepts from the “Plastic World” and the “Human Spaces”, where they will make their debut to the public.
There will be a zone dedicated to the “Day by Day” theme with unseen images. Art Angle will recreate the iconic theme for you to be inside of the photos.

Swimming Pool – The photographer has an unspeakable feeling towards buildings left from the socialism era in Slovakia. She let the models pose emotionlessly like rigid mannequins in the swimming pools and the element of water is a metaphor of ‘regeneration.’
Plastic World – There is not a trace of
emotion in the models, frame after frame, thus creating different themes that have
become the essence of the series: Only ‘Emptiness’ and ‘Meaningless’ is left
when humans assume their roles designated by the society. The complex yet
dreamy plastic settings show a fictional world.
Human Space – A world parallel to the reality is created with retro color tones, light, and shadows. It gives viewers something to reflect on: between reality and imagination; familiarity and strangeness; it is a chance to have a conversation with oneself.

Art Angle’s mission is to promote
photography art. We seek for the best photography in different genres from the
world’s stage and introduce them to the viewers in Taiwan. It is a rare chance
to look at these wonderful artworks closely and discover the depth and variety
of photography.
An Open-space Exhibition Hall
The exhibition space will occupy all three
floors of the EcoARK. It will be
designed not just only for showcasing artworks on the wall, the viewers will also
experience different charms of the images from the different angles on each
floor.
Interactive Installations
By the deconstruction of the elements of
the artwork, we have not only allowed the viewers to enjoy a static and quiet
appreciation but at the same time enter into Maria Svarbova’s fantasy world.
