活動簡介

The Conference on AI in Quality and Patient Safety

Background
The major topics of future medical development include how to improve patient safety, enhance medical quality, achieve precise medicine, and increase medical accessibility, etc. Artificial intelligence is regarded as a powerful tool that will lead the future direction of medical development. In this conference, we will focus on the applications of artificial intelligence in medical quality and patient safety, and discuss how artificial intelligence technologies might be employed to the continuous improvement of medical quality and patient safety. In the morning, three relevant talks and a panel discussion will be presented. The OHDSI (Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics) Taiwan meeting with an initiative of establishing OHDSI community in Taiwan and a tutorial about OHDSI tools will be held and delivered afterwards. For more details about the agenda as well as the descriptions about OHDSI, please see below.

About OHDSI

OHDSI provides an international research network with open source tools which are very useful for big healthcare data analysis. Since the electronic health record promises to vastly expand clinical and informatics research, providing data for large-scale studies that would not be feasible with traditional research data collection methods. No single medical center will have sufficient data to answer questions about rare diseases and infrequent complications. The goal of OHDSI is to create a series of de-identified databases around the world that each uses the same format. Each database can be asked for the same question using the same computer code, and the answers will then be aggregated to produce greater reliability and statistical significance. Each institution will retain control of its own database, simplifying governance and maintenance. Each database will be fully de-identified to protect patient privacy and simplify the process of obtaining permission to carry out a given query.
