Michael來自愛爾蘭，專長是英國的歷史與政治，這堂課Michael將介紹英國與歐洲的關係，英國將於6/23舉行脫歐公投（Brexit），最新民調指出“留歐派”僅僅以不到10%的差距領先“脫歐派”，究竟為什麼會出現這樣的分歧? 留歐與脫歐分別有什麼好處? 美國中國等等其他國家又將扮演什麼角色呢? Michael出身愛爾蘭，他也將以愛爾蘭的角度來介紹英國與歐洲的關係。
本期課程的時間安排非常巧妙，前兩堂課的知識將幫助大家對於6/23的公投有更深刻的了解，最後一堂課（6/26）Michael將帶領大家重新理解最新鮮的公投結果。Michael目前在亞洲擔任愛爾蘭大學的招生工作，他曾在中國星馬等地工作，擁有豐富的國際經驗，另外Michael是位年輕的父親，舉手投足都散發著成熟的魅力。

Class#1 Britain before the EU
From 1957 to 1973 what was Britains part in Europe? What was Britains part in the world before they joined a larger bloc and what was their voice in the world? What were the conditions that led to Margret Thatcher leading Great Britain into a European Union? Before former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher led Great Britain to join the European Union, Britain held a different place on the international economic and diplomatic stage. In this discussion we look at Britain from 1957 to 1973 and the factors that led to its union with the bloc.
Class#2 Britain in the EU
From 1973 to now what role has Britain played in the EU. What are the costs and benefits they have enjoyed as a result of membership? Why are certain people happy to stay while others are eager to leave? Since its 1977 union with the bloc, Britain has experienced both great benefit and consequence. A Brexit would mean big changes for Britain and the bloc and in this discussion we examine why some people want to stay as part of the bloc and others want to go.
Class#3 Possible Outcomes
If the UK leaves the EU what will happen to them. What are the extreme examples that both camps use for the results of the referendum? What possible models could the UK use if they leave the EU? A Brexit referendum that sees the nation vote to separate from the bloc would force the nation to adapt to new economic models. In this discussion we address some of the systems other nations use to trade with the EU and how these could apply to Britain.
