講者介紹
莎拉•西格爾 (Sara Seager ) / 系外行星學家
莎拉・西格爾是來自北美的天文學家和行星科學家，她是美國麻省理工學院教授，專注於太陽系外行星與大氣的研究。她是第一位發現太陽系外，有類似地球的大氣層行星。西格爾的研究讓她在2013年獲得麥克阿瑟獎學金，也讓她能再進一步找到一個適合人類宜居的系外行星。
西格正在負責一項研究遮星板(starshade)概念的NASA研究。這種遮星板將漂浮在太空望遠鏡前方，遮擋恆星發出的光，這樣就能看見比較暗淡的行星了，就像司機拉下遮陽板擋住刺眼的陽光那樣。
史蒂芬•彼車奈克 (Stephen Petranek) / 科技預測者
史蒂芬・彼車奈克是一位科技預測家、作家，他從觀察新興科技來預測人類未來生活的趨勢。2002年他曾經在TED大會分享一則「世界末日倒數計時」的演講，目前此演講已在線上累積150萬次點閱率。
彼車奈克實際上是一個樂觀主義者，他並不覺得會有「世界末日」，反而人類將逃離其困境。在未來的世紀內，他預測人類將在火星上建立一個八萬人居住的城市。他相信這不僅是可行的，而且是不可避免的未來。
吳俊輝 / 宇宙學家
吳俊輝是位宇宙學家，任教於台灣大學，為知名人體油畫家張淑美教授之子。十二歲時以水管及廢木料自製兩台天文望遠鏡，嘗試證明月球上有嫦娥，而與宇宙結下不解之緣。後於劍橋大學攻讀宇宙學博士，並在史蒂芬‧霍金教授所 領導的「相對論小組」內從事研究，1999年獲得博士學位後在加州大學柏克萊分校及美國航太總署擔任研究員，之後返國服務已逾十年。
目前亦為夏威夷阿米巴 宇宙望遠鏡計劃之首席科學家，在台灣從事多項科普推廣工作與社會服務，包含水管望遠鏡DIY的推廣，盼能分享自己的喜樂，也期許學生：「把毅力留給你的人生夢想。」

TED 2015 will be held on March 16th to 20th in Vancouver this year, and TEDxTaipei is inviting all TED fans to join us in Taipei for a special TED 2015 viewing party! For the first part of the TEDxTaipeiLive viewing party, we will feature same-day talks from selected TED 2015 speakers of Session Four: Out of This World.
In session four of TED 2015, "Out of This World", speakers from exoplanet experts to technology forecasters shall unveil the mysteries of another habitable planet or share the possibilities of establishing a city on Mars.

Sara Seager / Exoplanet expert
Sara Seager's research led to the first discovery of an atmosphere on a planet outside our solar system. Now she's on the hunt for a twin Earth.
Having helped pave the way for the current torrent of discoveries of planets outside of our solar system (or exoplanets), 2013 MacArthur Fellow Sara Seager is now preparing to fulfill her life dream of discovering a planet with nearly identical conditions to our own.
Seager’s present research and discovery mission projects include Earth-orbiting nanosatellite telescopes as well as the Starshade, a sunflower-shaped giant screen to block intrusive starlight, allowing a space telescope to zoom in on the small exoplanets that have thus far eluded our sight.
Stephen Petranek / Technology forecaster
Stephen Petranek untangles emerging technologies to predict which will become fixtures of our future lives -- and which could potentially save them.
Writer and technologist Stephen Petranek became a reluctant doomsayer when his earliest TED Talk (“10 ways the world could end”) racked up 1.5 million views. But Petranek is in fact an optimist who believes that humanity will escape its predicaments -- literally. Within a century, he predicts that humans will have established a city of 80,000 on Mars: and that not only is that plausible, but it’s also inevitable.
Petranek is the editor-in-chief of the Breakthrough Technology Report, a technology newsletter that ties scientific breakthroughs to investment opportunities. He's the author of the forthcoming TED Book How We'll Live on Mars .
Jiun-Huei Proty Wu / Cosmologist
Professor Jiun-Huei Proty Wu is a cosmologist teaching at National Taiwan University, jointly appointed by Academia Sinica and National Cheng-Chi University. When he was 12, he built two telescopes using surplus wood and a PVC water pipe, hoping to prove the existence of the goddess of the moon. Two years later, after he had successfully used these two telescopes to capture moments of Halley's Comet passing near earth, he was inspired to pursue a path in the studies of celestial structures.
At 28, he obtained his PhD in Cosmology from the Relativity Group at Cambridge, led by Professor Stephen Hawking. After working at U.C. Berkeley and NASA, he returned to Taiwan and has been back for over a decade. He is currently the Project Scientist of the cosmological telescope, AMiBA, in Hawaii. He plans to build a time machine at the South Pole to search for the origins of the cosmos.
