Arum, Dawoon, and Soo Kang started Coffee Meets Bagel with the idea of creating the best dating service for women by focusing on quality and safety. Since launching in New York City in 2012, Coffee Meets Bagel has been an unstoppable force in the dating scene expanding throughout the U.S. and launching internationally over the past year. It has made over 2.5 billion introductions globally and has been named one of the Top 15 Dating Sites by Mashable and the Best Dating App for Women by Refinery29.
They made waves on the last season of ABC’s hit-show Shark Tank when they turned down a $30 million offer showing the nation that they believe in their business and how the past 4 years of success are only the beginning. Their confidence is backed up by over 50,000 couples made through Coffee Meets Bagel and the countless smiles they create every day at noon!
— About co-founder Dawoon Kang —

Dawoon’s work spans from strategy & business development to marketing, research and investing/finance. She started her career at Avon Products as Analyst for U.S. Strategy & Business Development in New York. In this role, she worked closely with the U.S. senior leadership team to lead & execute strategic initiatives designed to support company’s shortand longterm growth targets.
After receiving her MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2009, she went on to J. P. Morgan’s Global Special Opportunities Group in Hong Kong. She worked as Vice President of North Asia Investment team, which covered all investments in Korea, Taiwan, and Japan, from distressed debt to growth equity opportunities.
In 2012, Dawoon cofounded Coffee Meets Bagel along with her sisters Arum and Soo. As COO & Head of Marketing, Dawoon oversees the company’s overall vision, strategy, branding, and marketing. She has given numerous talks about dating and tech to groups such as Women 2.0, The Korea Society in New York and including a recent TEDx talk with Arum in San Francisco on the theme Redefining Normal.
