ABOUT THE TEAM
"God of Carnage" is a truly international
collaboration. We welcome our first international guest director –
Bangkok-based Latin American director Jaime Zúñiga. The play also stars 4 of
the finest young actors in Taiwan's performing arts community: Taiwanese
actress Lesley Hu (
胡世恩) as Annette, Canadian
actor Derek Kwan (
關顯揚) as Michael, New
York-based Malaysian actress Hui-Shurn Yong (
楊慧珊) as Veronica and Taiwan-based Malaysian actor
Lawrence Ong (
翁書強) as Alan.
蝴蝶效應一直以來致力於將英文劇作引進台灣，而《文明的野蠻人》忠於這項目標，成為國際化的合作關係。本次劇作特別邀請到來自曼谷的拉丁裔美籍導演Jaime Zúñiga。劇中將由四位年輕優秀的演員演出，包括來自台灣的胡世恩、加拿大的關顯揚、曾赴紐約學戲劇來自馬來西亞的楊慧珊，及同樣來自馬來西亞現為台灣專業演員的翁書強。
SYNOPSIS
A
playground altercation between eleven-year-old boys brings together two sets of
Brooklyn parents for a meeting to resolve the matter. At first, diplomatic
niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses, and the rum flows,
tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than
just their liberal principles in tatters.

故事開始前兩名11歲小男孩在操場上發生了爭執，雙方父母為了解決此事而聚在一起。起初大家冷靜地討論，然而隨著時間的推移、一杯杯酒精下肚後，局勢越顯緊張甚至開始拳腳相向，最後雙方僅存的原則也支離破碎。

Translated
from the French by the playwright Christopher Hampton, “God of Carnage” was
first presented at the Gielgud Theatre in London's West End in 2008, starring
Ralph Fiennes, Tamsin Greig, Janet McTeer and Ken Stott. Its Broadway premiere
came a year later at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre and starred Jeff Daniels,
Hope Davis, James Gandolfini and Marcia Gay Harden.
The play won the
Olivier for Best Comedy and the Tony
Award for Best Play, Best Director and Best
Actress. Roman Polanski directed the 2011 film adaption “Carnage” with
performances by Jodie Foster, John C. Reilly, Christoph Waltz and Kate Winslet.

THE PLAYWRIGHT
Yasmina
Reza is a French dramatist, novelist and actress who rose to international prominence
with her one-act plays “Art” and “God of Carnage”, both of which won the Tony Award
for Best Play and the Olivier Award for Best Comedy. She has also received the
Molière Award several times since 1987 when her first play, “Conversations
After A Burial”, won her the recognition for Best Author.

雅絲曼娜·雷莎生於1959，為法籍劇作家、小說家及演員，其劇作《Art 藝術》和《God of Carnage 文明的野蠻人》大獲好評，使雷莎知名度耀生國際，此二齣劇獲得「東尼獎」最佳戲劇獎及「奧利維爾獎」最佳喜劇獎。除此之外自1987她的第一齣劇開始也多次榮獲法國「莫里哀戲劇獎」，雷莎過世後更獲得最佳劇作家的頭銜。
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Originally
from Nicaragua, Jaime Zúñiga burst onto the Asian theatre scene in 2011 with
his colorful presentation of “The Importance of Being Earnest” in Ho Chi Minh
City, where he co-founded Dragonfly Theatre Co. with American filmmaker Aaron Toronto.
He won the hearts of children and adults alike with his modern and explosive
reinterpretation of “The Little Prince” in 2012, with Vietnam News describing
it “an eye-catching and magical experience” and Saigon Times raving, “It was
impossible not to like ‘The Little Prince’”. He relocated to Thailand in 2013
and co-founded Peel the Limelight with Director Peter O’Neill. He recently
produced "The True History of the Tragic Life and Triumphant Death of
Julia Pastrana, the Ugliest Woman in the World", winning multiple awards
at the Bangkok Theatre Festival 2015.

導演Jaime Zúñiga來自尼加拉瓜，2011年他勇闖亞洲戲劇圈，與來自美國的製片人Aaron Toronto在胡志明市共同成立「蜻蜓劇團」上演了精彩的《不可兒戲》。2012年Jaime重新導演了現代版的《小王子》贏的了大人和小孩的心，越南的新聞媒體描述到“一齣引人注目，神奇的看戲經驗” 而西貢時報更讚揚“誰也不可能不愛上《小王子》”。2013Jaime搬到泰國與導演Peter O’Neill共同創立Peel the

ABOUT The Lab Space
Opened
in 2014, The Lab Space is one of the most intimate and versatile black box
theatres in Taipei. Located within the Polymer Art Space (
空場藝術聚落),
an artist-run factory-turned-studio space in the industrial part of Beitou, The
Lab Space is part of Taipei's young and vibrant art scene that is taking over
the city and offers the most creative freedom among all the performance arts
space in town. It is also a venue-for-hire for shows, rehearsals, workshops, or
film projects.
The Lab Space is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the
Qilian MRT station (Red Line) exit #2.

關於實演場
2014年正式啟用，實演場座落於台北，為多功能性質的黑盒子劇場。位於空場藝術聚落內為北投一處由許多藝術家進駐之聚落，實演場提供了台北年輕又有活力的創意自由藝術表演空間，除了作為表演場地，還可提供排練、研討會甚至電影拍攝。
